Morocco is a wonderful place for lovers of hiking and trekking. You will enjoy entire days of walking in the High Atlas and camping in the villages or in night shelters. During your daily walks, you will appreciate the contact with the locals and the wealth of our mountains.

High Atlas
High Atlas is one of the most beautiful physical features in Morocco. Riding strong, streaking across the country from the South West to North east, the High Atlas is one of the greatest mountains of the world, the ideal place for hiking in Morocco. Sharp peaks, deep valleys, high plateau create a lovely landscape. It is an ideal place to relax away from the city and enjoy the picturesque scenary.

Anti-Atlas
Parallel to the Atlantic shores is the Anti-atlas agadir close to 2,000m which offers a stunning scenary and ruins of ancient granite landforms. The feature consists of massive piles of balls stacked, covered with original vegetation: Cactus, almond trees, Oleanders. The beautiful rock formation, incredible blue rocksand the agadir (castles) are a sight to behold.

Middle Atlas
The Middle Atlas displays a spectacularly beautiful range of mountains carpeted in green with cedar and Oak trees. the small town of Ifrane is used as a tourist destination in summer due to its mild temperatures. The forest skirts the the desolate highlands and barley crops adapt themselves perfectly to the nearby lakes. The Oleander form a guard of honour for the river Oumer rbia (commonly referred to as mother of springs) which joins with the 40 sources.

Saghro Traverse
12 days Mule trekking and walking – Starts Marrakech and ends at Marrakech .

The Jebel Saghro Massif is a volcanic mountainous region situated between the High Atlas and the Sahara desert and is the perfect spot for mule trekking and walking.

Day 1: Marrakech

We will meet you at Marrakech airport and take you to your riad or hotel in the centre of Marrakech.

Day 2: Tanzikht.

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and you will travel south by minibus or jeep to the beginning of your trek through the Saghro Mountains. The road, which has spectacular views, takes you up the High Atlas, through Berber villages to the Tizi ‘n Tichka pass (2260m), through Ouarzazate and towards the western part of the Saghro Mountains, then on to Agdz and the palm groves of the Draa valley. We stop near Tanzikht where you will meet your muleteers and set up camp for the night.

Day 3: Aqqa N'Oughioule (1600m) .

The mules will be loaded first thing in the morning and you will leave the Draa valley and head north into the mountains crossing remote upland plains, to an oasis where you will have a specially prepared lunch served with mint tea. In the afternoon we follow a trail to a little-visited canyon with interesting rock formations and where you will camp for the night. Five hours walking approximately.

Day 4: Tangarfa Valley (1400m)

You will follow the canyon upwards towards the Tiz N’Igddad (1900m) and from there yu will cross a plateau to the edge of the Tangarfa Canyon, with stunning views of the mountains and their strange shapes caused by erosion. A slow descent will bring you into the Tangarfa Valley where you will bivouac near the oasis of Isfoula. 6 hours walking approximately.

Day 5: Tagmout (1600m)

In the morning, leaving the Tangarfa Canyon and its prehistoric rock sculptures, you climb to the Tizi N’Tagout (1950 m), where you will have a picnic lunch and enjoy the stunning views. In the afternoon you will cross a plateau and set up camp on the banks of the Assaka River. 5 hours walking approximately.

Day 6: Assaka (1400m)

This is an easy day with a leisurely walk of about three hours through beautiful countryside and views to Assaka village, where you will have a relaxing lunch and set up camp for the night. You will have a free afternoon to explore this delightful old Berber village.

Day 7: Ighazzoune N'Imlasse (1300m)

Following the Assaka River you will pass Berber dwellings and terraces cut into the mountainside, planted with almond trees and wheat. The valley opens out into an upland plain. Shaded by almond trees you will have lunch near the village of Berkik, and then you will walk through a pass of more strange rock formation, and then down to your bivouac near Ighazzoune N’Imlass, set in stunningly beautiful countryside. landscape of s situated in an overwhelming landscape. 6 hours walking. Day 8: Bab N'Ali (1360m)

Three hours walking will take you through the strange Bab N’Ali landscape with its vertical tower-like rock formations, which are are reminiscent of regions in Arizona or Utah. You will bivouac on the banks of a river near a small auberge, and you can explore the river and swim in the gorge. 3.5 hours approximately.

Day 9: Iggli (1600m)

An early morning start is needed to walk up high above the Afourar Gorge, then a descent into the river valley following the water’s course up to lush farming land. From here you will take a path to an upland plain and canyons and then on down to a Iggli, a small hamlet set in a mineral-rich landscape with colourful rock formations, and where you will camp for the night. 4 hours walking approximately.

Day 10: Almou N'Ouarg (2200m)

A stony mule path takes you up to the Tizi n’Iggli, where you follow a hilly terrain of meadows and rough ground and huge junipers. Weather permitting, you can also walk to the top of the Kaouch, for stunning views from a heigh of 2595m; after lunch yu walk down to your campsite Almou N’Ouarg, a genuine Berber encampment. 6 hours walking approximately.

Day 11: Tagdilte (1650m)

Walk back up to the Tizi N’Ouarg (2300m) to enjoy the view over the Dades Valley towards the peaks of the Atlas Mountains. Then follows a long descent to the village of Tagdilte where you will part company with your mules and muleteers and spend the night as guests in a Berber house. You will enjoy the luxury of a hot shower and soft mattresses. Here you will have to say good-bye to your muleteers. 4 hours walking approximately.

Day 12: Marrakech

Return to Marrakech by car. A beautiful drive through the oases of the Dadès Valley, and a visit to the ksar Ait Benhaddou. Then back through the High Atlas Mountains to Marrakech.
