Leave the vibrant city of Marrakech and drive through lush vegetation, olive and orange trees, orchards and through genuine villages. The scenery is completely different off the beaten tracks or on the road, - barren light brown plateaux, a true stone desert. The locals call it Agafay desert: it well could be Sahara as well, because of the feeling of loneliness you can experience there. For all those who haven't got enough time in Morocco to go for a Sahara tour, all the way south then the Agafay desert is an excellent alternative. The Agafay desert is not a sand desert - but more sandstone and earthen plateau. You will discover, traditional earth-built villages, dusty riverbeds are interspersed with spectacular sumptuous pasture and vegetation in springtime. There you will be able to enjoy a unique dinner experience. Day 1 : Marrakech – Zagora : On the Way to the Desert , Leaving Marrakech in the morning, we cross the tizi n’Tichka and drive through more spectacular scenery with views of mountain valleys and plains, and villages, with their Berber houses of their typical earth construction, tucked organically into the mountainside. and we will travel south up through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’ Tichka Pass (2260 m), which was built by the Foreign Legion and is the highest pass in Morocco. Our winding road takes us through Berber villages and beautiful countryside with breathtaking views offered by the High Atlas Mountains. On the way, we will visit several Kasbahs, Then we continue on through the lush Draa valley to Zagora, where we will have dinner and spend the night at a hotel. Today’s driving time is approximately 5h30 hours in total.
