Departure to the Agafay desert, just half an hour drive away from Marrakech. For all those who haven't got enough time in Morocco to go for a Sahara tour, all the way south then the Agafay desert is an excellent alternative. The Agafay desert is not a sand desert - but more sandstone and earthen plateau. The landscape is made up of sandstone rocks and traditional villages built of pisé (earth and straw). We will take the road again through tracks and cross Berber villages. If you wish, you can get out of the 4X4 and go for a ride. You will also have the opportunity to take a camel ride. We will also stop for tea in a typical Berber village. We will take the road to Lake Lalla Takerkoust which is actually a lake formed by a hydraulic dam. It is a popular place for picnics by the water but also for horse riding or jet-skiing. Lunch will take place either in a restaurant by the lake or, if you prefer, in a Berber family in the Atlas. We will continue our excursion towards the plateau of Kik where we will stop for some refreshments and to take magnificent photos of the landscape. Finally, we will go down to the small city of Asni located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains (where a traditional souk is held on Saturdays). This tour offers visitors a wide variety of sceneries, such as the desert, the mountains, a lake, and valleys.
