Day 1 : Marrakech – Zagora : On the Way to the Desert ,
Leaving Marrakech in the morning, we cross the tizi n’Tichka and drive through more spectacular scenery with views of mountain valleys and plains, and villages, with their Berber houses of their typical earth construction, tucked organically into the mountainside. and we will travel south up through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’ Tichka Pass (2260 m), which was built by the Foreign Legion and is the highest pass in Morocco. Our winding road takes us through Berber villages and beautiful countryside with breathtaking views offered by the High Atlas Mountains. On the way, we will visit several Kasbahs, Then we continue on through the lush Draa valley to Zagora, where we will have dinner and spend the night at a hotel.

Day 1 : Marrakech – Zagora : On the Way to the Desert

Day 2 : Zagora – Tamgroute – M’hamid – Chegaga

After breakfast,we leave for M’hamid, stopping on the way to explore the holy city of Tamgroute, an important religious and learning centre of the Nasiriyya Sufi where we can visit the Koranic library, explore an underground Kasbah and be tempted by the products made in the Tamgroute pottery, renowned for its special green glazes. At M’hamid, at the desert’s threshold, we’ll have lunch at the bivouac, and then ride camels for about two hours before we continue our journey. From M’hamid we leave the road and travel in a 4×4 vehicle through the beautiful desert landscape until we reach the towering sand dunes of Chegaga. They are the largest group of dunes in the region, and look like small, sandy mountain ranges reaching heights of 300 metres with a span of some 40 kilometres. We will camp in Berber tents and at dinner we will be entertained by local musicians.

Day 3: Chagaga dunes – Ouarzazate

After breakfast, the road crosses another 90km of desert, passing Lake Iriqui and the mountains as well as fossils, for enthusiasts. The first village beyond the desert, Foum Zguid, is the place for lunch and a refreshing shower. We travel north past hills and oases of palm trees until we reach the town of Taznakht, a small Berber town famous for its rugs and gelims. You will have lunch here before continuing to Ouarzazate for the night in a riad.

Day 4: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakesh

After breakfast, we leave for to continue to visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This site has frequently been used as the background for some memorable scenes in many film masterpieces, such as “Lawrence of Arabia” and “The Gladiator”. We visit the Kasbah and have lunch before driving on to Kasbah Telouet, the palatial residence of the one-time Pasha of Marrakesh, Thami Glaoui. It now stands in ruins after he fled the country following the departure of the French. After visiting the Kasbah, we drive across the Tizi-n-Tichka pass and back to Marrakesh, which we reach by the early evening.
